Acts 22-24 Sunday June 15
These 3 chapters give the story of Paul in captivity and some of his encounters with authority. I have just a few comments on these chapters. Chapter 22 tells the story of Paul giving his testimony to the Jewish people. I find it interesting that the thing that really made them upset is that Jesus was calling Paul to the Gentiles or non-Jewish people. It's like the religious people had gotten so religious that they couldn't even see what God was doing on the earth at that time. How did Godly people miss what God was doing? It makes me pray that I won't be blinded by my paradigm or how I think things are suppose to be and miss what God is doing on the earth today. I also found it interesting that when Paul snaps at the high priest in chapter 23 he immediately repents when he finds out that he was the high priest. He STILL honored authority even when it wasn't righteous authority. Paul even quotes the Old Testament as to the reason why he shouldn't have spoken harshly to the high priest. I think sometimes we diminish the Old Testament but the apostles still lived by it even after Jesus came and fulfilled the law.
