Romans 15-16 and 1 Corinthians 1 (June 22)

Often I will find myself praying Romans 15: 5-6.  I believe it is so on the heart of God that we, the whole body of Christ, are united.  If we believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He came to die for us and gave the ultimate sacrifice and then rose from the grave so that through our confession we can enter into an eternal relationship with Him then we are on the same team!  It is so easy to look at other denominations and think they are either too stuffy or not serious enough and separate ourselves from them.  But we should be declaring His goodness and glory with one mind and one voice.  Think of what the body of Christ could do if we would just unite our voice to glorify God?  I believe we would see a huge difference in our homes, schools and communities.

If Jesus has done everything needed to deal with sin and death, why is it that Paul says in Romans 15:20 that soon God will crush Satan under your feet?  This makes me believe that we still have a part in the destruction of the enemy.

In 1 Corinthians we see the same emphasis of unity as we do in Romans.  The very first thing Paul talks about after is salutation is unity!

I love the Kingdom Culture that is started  in 1 Cor. 1:26.  Many things in the Kingdom of God are backwards to our thinking and what we see in our world.  He chose the foolish, the weak, the insignificant and despised - that doesn’t sound like OUR culture.  We want the wise, the strong and the popular.  There is a line from a song that I think explains it best - His Kingdom is an upside down kingdom.
