Romans9, Paul, is really torn, he has been called everything in the book. But he still loves Israel. In the first few lines Paul, is telling them that God loves them so much Paul is praying for them. In vs.8 Paul tells us that we are God's children and we don't have to be a physical descent of Abraham. What do you think about that? We are adopted By God. In vs. 14 Paul shows us that God was dealing with Israel in the time of Moses. When you read the Old Testament God through out is dealing with complaints from Israel. They were handed the land but it was never good enough. Or one of God's people who begged him to have mercy on them and he did. Sometimes, God allows us to go the way we want. And it may work for awhile then we have to turn or stop and ask God to help us out. And he will be there to help us his arms are always open. Paul is trying to get them to open their eyes. What do you think of Gods love?
In Romans10, Paul's heart desire is that Israel will be saved. They are so caught up in all the rules. Have you ever met someone that is so caught up in the rules that they miss the big picture? Look at vs. 9-13 Paul talks about confess with your mouth that Jesus was raised from the dead by God, and you will be saved. Reading about it does not save you. You must ask him to come into your heart and life. Confess it.
Romans11, God still wants his nation to cry out for him. In vs.6 it is by grace not by works that we have a relationship with God. Paul tells us that Israel can be saved. In vs. 17 Paul makes a point that like an olive tree some branches will fall off or broken off, others will be grafted into the tree. And the branches do NOT support the tree but the roots do. What is he saying to us? I think its this, We have the word of God and by grace we are saved. Planted in the church, our personal life, and our relationship with God. God is the root he feeds us, saved us, Meets our needs. If we choose to fall away he cuts us out. Not because he does not love us. But so that he can show all of mercy from our disobedience. Israel will call out to him and they will have his mercy just like us.
Love you guys,
Kaylene
